How to compare two systems without a sales call
- Find the published Canadian price first. If a company will not put a number on its website, treat that as the answer it is.
- Separate the fee you pay from the fee your customer pays. A "free" plan that adds a service fee at checkout is not free, and it costs you orders where people abandon the cart.
- Ask what happens to card processing. A flat monthly fee plus your own Stripe account is a different deal from a bundled rate you cannot see.
- Check whether the price is per location. Chains and multi-brand kitchens pay it more than once.
- Ask who owns the customer list and whether you can export it. If you cannot leave with your customers, the price is not the whole cost.
- Confirm the contract length and what the exit looks like in month three.
- Test it in French if you serve Quebec or bilingual customers, and check the receipt shows GST, HST, PST or QST correctly.
What each comparison below covers
Every page uses the same rows so you can read across them: commission per order, monthly price in CAD, any fee the customer pays, setup fee, contract, card payments, POS and kitchen display, dining room tools, languages, and where the customer list lives.
Delivery apps are a different decision
Marketplace commission and ordering-software price are not the same question. A delivery app buys you reach and charges a percentage of each order; an ordering system charges a flat fee and keeps the customer yours. Most Canadian restaurants end up running both, with the app for discovery and their own page for regulars. The published Canadian rates are on the delivery app fees guide, and you can run your own numbers in the commission calculator.
Where these numbers come from
Competitor prices and plan terms are read from each company’s own pricing page, checked 29 October 2026. Prices change, so check the page before you decide. Chefzi’s own price is the published CAD monthly fee on the pricing page.
