What Toast publishes

Toast’s pricing page says it offers flexible pricing options and sends you to a sales conversation (Toast pricing, checked 29 October 2026). It names a Starter Package and a pay-as-you-go plan without a figure, and says the upfront costs are hardware and implementation, which vary. A Canadian pricing address on the same site returned no page.

That is not a criticism of the product: Toast is built for restaurants and it sells through a rep. It does mean you cannot put a number next to Chefzi’s without asking for one.

What to get in the quote

  • The monthly software fee per location, and whether it changes after year one.
  • The card processing rate, in person and online, and who sets it.
  • The hardware total, including any screen, terminal or printer you would need.
  • The implementation fee, and what happens to it if you leave in the first year.
  • The contract length and the cancellation terms in writing.
  • Whether your ordering pages can be in French, and whether prices and taxes are set per province.

Where Chefzi is different

The price is published, in Canadian dollars, before you talk to anyone: $17 CAD a month for cash and pickup ordering, $35 CAD with card payments, per location, with no commission per order.

Chefzi answers that list on the page rather than in a sales call: one flat fee, no setup charge, month-to-month, and the POS, kitchen display, printing, reservations and loyalty all inside it. Menu setup and onboarding are free.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Toast cost?

Toast does not publish pricing. It quotes per restaurant after a sales conversation, and says the upfront costs are hardware and implementation, which vary.

Does Toast charge commission?

Toast does not publish a commission rate. Ask for the per-order charge and the card processing rate in writing, because they are separate things.

Why is Chefzi’s price public?

Because it is a flat fee rather than a negotiated quote: $17 CAD a month for cash and pickup ordering, or $35 CAD with card payments, per location.

Is Toast available in Canada?

Toast operates in Canada, but no Canadian pricing page was found when this was checked, so Canadian figures have to come from a quote.
